jedit

jEdit is a text editor for programmers, available under the GNU General Public License version 2.0.

jEdit development was started in 1998.

The founding author was Slava Pestov, who left the project in 2006, handing development to the free software community. There has not been a major release of jEdit after version 4.2 in 2004; however, there have been numerous 4.3 preview releases since.
